We had a festival like that where I am from. Feast of the Burning Maidens. It was during the blooming of the Burning Maiden flowers.

When you mention "bomb" I think of a small ball with a fuse burning up before exploding and causing damage to others. Fireworks on the other hand, aren't so harmful, well the ones I know.
